Did you know that the number one cause of death to dogs in America stems from them being turned over to shelters when owners just can't handle them anymore?

In fact, most dogs have multiple behavioral issues that drive their owners insane. These behavioral issues usually start during the first 2-4 months of a dog's life. So when you acquire your new puppy, get him/ her started off on the right paw.

This program is geared towards puppies from 7 to 20 weeks of age. We will cover the many aspects of socializing your puppy through positive imprinting. It is during this critical time in your puppy's life that his overall temperament will be determined (assuming your pup is of a good genetic background). You will learn many techniques that will keep your pup from becoming aggressive, fearful or overexcited to new environments or people, including the VET! You will walk away with the tools to shape your dog into something to be proud of for a lifetime, and you will have fun while doing it.

The old saying "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" couldn't be more true when raising a puppy. The efforts we put towards a young puppy are to put the odds in our favor that they will grow up never knowing anxiety, fear, or aggression. These are the main problems most owners end up facing because they allowed the puppy to raise itself or because they didn't have the time or knowledge to properly socialize their young puppy.

Some trainers won't train your puppy if it's less than 4 months old. This is the most critical time for getting them on the right track. The puppy in the pictures below is demonstrating a Sit-Stay, a Down-Stay, and respects the front door boundaries. This puppy is only 3 months old. There is a lot you can do for your puppy when it is as young as 8 weeks old. Don't feel you need to wait until it reaches a certain age before you start training, he or she will only learn bad habits until you teach them the rules. Get your puppy started the day you bring them home.
